A Safe Church

‘A Safe Church’, Diocesan policies, procedures and guidelines for safeguarding children, safeguarding adults who may be vulnerable, and responding to domestic abuse, is published in the form of a manual. Its contents are currently being updated.

The policies, procedures and guidelines build on and update our robust child protection policies, and for the first time incorporate polices and guidelines relating to adults who may be vulnerable, in line with the Church of England policy ‘Promoting a Safe Church’.  They also incorporate information and practice in responding to situations of domestic abuse, in line with Church of England guidelines, ‘Responding to Domestic Abuse.’

The contents of ‘A Safe Church’ can be downloaded here in sections.  The manual is designed to be used as a tool as and when necessary: some sections will be of more relevance to some people than to others; and you may need to find specific sections in a hurry, depending on your particular concern.  We recommend you download the section, ‘How to use this manual: a quick guide’ in order to assist you in deciding which sections you need.
