Making a safeguarding referral

The best way to refer & get support

The Southwark Diocesan Safeguarding Team responds to safeguarding concerns when:

  • The concern relates to church officers, someone working or volunteering on behalf of the Church in the Diocese of Southwark
  • The concern arises within a Southwark church setting, activity, or on church premises
  • A parishioner of a church in the Diocese of Southwark shares worries about their own safety or behavior relating to children, young people, or adults at risk (including investigations, convictions, or concerning conduct)
  • Someone reports church based abuse, both recent and non-recent

In the first instance – where there is not immediate danger or significant risk of harm (in which case, call 999), please use this Triage and Referral form, to ensure we can provide you with the best support.

Southwark Diocese Safeguarding Triage & Referral Form – Fill out form

If the concern involves harm, abuse, or neglect that is not connected to the Church, you may still need support. This form will guide you to the right service.

If there is immediate danger or a significant risk of harm, call 999 and/or contact your local Children’s or Adult Social Care service before completing the form.

If the concern relates to someone who does not have a connection to the Diocese of Southwark, please contact the safeguarding team for the local Diocese or other relevant safeguarding services – find contact details here.
