Croydon, St Matthew

The church, which is hexagonal on plan, consists of solid brick walls covered by a series of mono-pitched aluminium clad roofs falling in different directions and at various levels separated at their junctions by vertical glazing, so as to introduce top light. To the east of the church, and contained within the same overall design, there is the chapel, church hall, kitchen, lavatories and three vestries, all opening off a large central irregularly shaped foyer.
