The Diocese of Southwark has more than 350 Church of England places of worship, which span 11 centuries. The oldest church was built in the 11th century, the newest in 2018. Of these, 191 churches are nationally listed buildings. Many more are locally listed as being of significance to their communities.
Our church buildings can be great assets to mission; this section of the website aims to help parishes work with their buildings by providing information and resources on a range of topics.
This area of work is overseen by the DAC Secretary, based in the Secretariat Department at Trinity House – please get in touch with the Church Buildings and DAC team if you have any questions (contact details are at the bottom of this page).
We hope that these pages will aid and inspire you to care for and make best use of your church building. As you scroll down you will find videos and blogs to help you. The menu bar on the right contains different pages in this section and will help you to navigate.
