Our training for curates is intended to help them mature as ministers for the service of God’s people.
The formation of curates takes place, above all, in the parish. Here they are encouraged to try things out, to reflect on their learning, and to begin to form the habits of ministry that will sustain them for the future. Additionally, curates attend the IME Phase 2 Programme arranged by the Diocese on the second Thursday of each month, which includes biblical reading, further opportunity for reflection, and teaching sessions.
What does a minister look like?
Relational
Loving God and living in deepening relationship with Jesus Christ, ministers grow in Christ-like maturity, prayerfulness, wisdom and compassion, cultivating a relational culture in their churches that encourages growth towards the full stature of Christ.
Missional
Enabling the saints to be called out and sent as those with a message to live and proclaim publicly, ministers equip the Church to venture boldly into the forgotten corners of the world, and are committed to the evangelisation and transformation of society.
Collaborative
Ministers are given to build up the body of Christ.
Formed in Christ-like character
Ministers are formed according to their calling and context. In our changing times, diverse forms of ministry will continue to develop, as will approaches to initial and continuing discernment and formation.
Adaptive
Ministers encourage their Christian community to be adaptive, discerning God’s call in the needs of those around them, and responding creatively and courageously. They are always mindful that the task of ministry is to serve God’s mission and not themselves.
