As I write this, we’ve almost finished editing the final few days of our Southwark Diocesan Advent Calendar. This year, instead of opening doors to a cardboard advent calendar, we opened real church doors across the Diocese and welcomed communities into our spaces. Each day we have shared scripture that collectively tells us of the nativity and the birth of Jesus Christ.

It has been a delight to visit and see some of the incredible breadth and diversity in our Diocese: from Charlwood and Lingfield in the south, Kingston in the West and Thamesmead in the East, to Southwark Cathedral in the North and many wonderful places in between. I’m very thankful to all the people and churches that took part in this year’s campaign, and was very touched by the warm welcome I received in every church. I hope that these videos help to bring more people into our churches this Christmas, and that they too may feel the same depth of that welcome.

A huge thank you to those of you who have been sharing the Advent Calendar online or in person, please do continue to follow the final few days as we head towards Christmas Day.
