Earth Day is an annual event held April to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Earth day has been held every April since 1970, and now includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EARTHDAY.ORG including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.
The theme for Earth Day 2024 is Planet vs. Plastics, a commitment to call for the end of plastics “for the sake of human and planetary health.” The theme’s proposed goal is to reduce the production of plastics by 60% in 2040 and ultimately build a plastic-free future.
Earth Day are keen to point out that despite the name it is not a single day it’s a movement so if you are interested, please read the action toolkit to see how you might get involved. Earth Day is a great reminder of the importance of our Eco Diocese and Net Zero Programmes in protecting Gods creation and hence ensuring a thriving, liveable planet for future generations.
