London is home to nearly 100,000 people who have sought sanctuary in the UK, each bringing their own story, culture, and gifts. Many churches in the Diocese of Southwark already know how much this enriches our communities. Refugees bring music, food, art, and deep compassion shaped by their experiences and our congregations are stronger for it. Their involvement in our communities is a blessing and a powerful reflection of the multi-cultural worship which is depicted in Revelation 7:9.
This Refugee Week (16th–22nd June), we’re invited to reflect on the theme ‘Community as a Superpower’. It’s a chance to celebrate the everyday kindness, generosity, and connection that make our churches places of welcome and hope. Together, we can continue to build communities where everyone belongs.
If you’d like to get involved, take a look at the events listed below. This is a live page and more events and activities will be added as we get closer to Refugee Week, so check back regularly for updates and opportunities to take part.
