I’m Sophie Roberts, the new Diocesan Environmental Officer for Southwark Diocese. I achieved my degree in Geography from the University of Liverpool, and have done lots of previous social impact work which has focused on providing opportunities to disadvantaged youth. I strongly believe that climate protection and social justice go hand in hand, and want to encourage churches to lead the way in matters of care of creation and climate justice.
In my role I’ll be focusing on encouraging churches in their environmental journeys particularly through projects like Eco Church, and building on the strong foundations already laid by the previous DEO towards becoming a more eco-conscious Diocese.
