Training
The team offers training in a number of areas to help parishes and clergy in all matters relating to working with the press, television and radio, as well as other communications-related issues. These include:
- livestreaming worship
- publicising your parish’s successes
- writing press releases
- setting up and managing social platforms
- engaging with an online audience
- freshening up your parish website
- what to do when things go wrong
- troubleshooting difficult press queries.
The team also offers tailor-made training. Contact [email protected] to discuss your needs.
Advice
The team is always on hand to advise on press queries – contact Anna Drew at [email protected] in the first instance. Anna or another member of the team can help you to draft a statement, manage bad news, write a press release or choose which press opportunities to accept, and what to say.
The team can also help with advice on updating your website, social media presence or branding. Please get in touch with your queries, or download the department’s Style Guide and Communications Advice for Parishes.
If you would like to use photographs of children or vulnerable adults from your congregations on your website or other promotional material, you must get a parent or carer to sign a release form. You can download these from our Safeguarding Resources page.
Sharing your story
The team is keen to share news of what the Diocese’s parishes are doing, whether that is via The Bridge, social media or in Noticeboard or the eBulletin. Please e-mail [email protected] to discuss your stories or get in touch via @SouthwarkCofE on Twitter or facebook.com/SouthwarkCofE/. Photographs are always welcome, too.
