A statement from The Rt Revd Alastair Cutting, Bishop of Woolwich
“It is deeply devastating that violent acts of crime continue to impact young people in our local communities. Our hearts ache for the family and friends of Kelyan Bokassa, as they come to terms with his life being cut so short at the start of the new year. In prayer and action, we stand together with all who are working to reduce violence that affects young people on our streets – this cannot continue. Our Woolwich church communities continue to offer space for prayer and reflection for those impacted.”
A statement from The Revd Dr Chigor Chike, Archdeacon of Lewisham & Greenwich
“One can only imagine how shocking this must be, particularly for Kelyan’s family and friends and all those who knew him; and for the people of Woolwich, with two violent incidents this week. I encourage people to come and join with me and other faith and community leaders at the prayer vigil this evening at St Mary’s Woolwich from 7pm.”
