The Most Reverend Michael Lewis is the Primate of the Anglican Province of Jerusalem and the Middle East, the province that includes our Partner Diocese of Jerusalem.

On Saturday 7th May Archbishop Michael will visit the Church of St Michael’s Croydon to give a lecture about the mission and ministry of Anglicans in the Middle East. It is hoped that many from Southwark Diocese will be keen to meet the Archbishop to learn about the life of the Church in this important part of the world and to help develop Southwark’s links with Christians there.

After Archbishop Michael’s lecture there will be an opportunity to pray for the Church in the Middle East at Solemn Evensong in St Michael’s Church. A reception will follow and a chance to meet and spend time with the Archbishop.

The Vicar of St Michael’s, Fr Tim Pike, said, “Archbishop Michael oversees the life of the Anglican Church from Cyprus to Jerusalem, Iraq, Iran and the countries of the Gulf. We hope lots of friends from the Diocese will want to save the date and join us on the afternoon of 7th May to greet Archbishop Michael and pray for him and his colleagues. It will be a great chance to learn about the work of the Church in the Middle East and to make a financial contribution to support our sisters and brothers there. It will also be a wonderful opportunity to develop the new relationship between our Diocese and the Diocese of Jerusalem.”
