On Saturday 19 July, Rachel Marlow, Church Army Evangelist was admitted and commissioned into the Office of Evangelists under the authority of the Archbishops of Canterbury and York during a ceremony at Sheffield Cathedral.
Rachel Marlow is part of the team at St the Helier Centre of Mission in partnership with the Church Army based at St Peter, St Helier.
Rachel’s story is one of transformation, faith, and calling. After rediscovering her connection to Jesus during her time as a primary school teacher, Rachel embraced a new chapter in her life, leading her to become a Pioneer Evangelist with Church Army at the St Helier Centre of Mission. Her ministry focuses on youth and children, and she has seen God work powerfully through initiatives like youth groups, school outreach, and even an Alpha course tailored for new mums.
Through the Evangelist-in-Training course, Rachel deepened her understanding of God’s glory and gained essential tools for her ministry, while building lasting relationships and finding affirmation in her calling as an evangelist. Following her Admission and Commissioning, Rachel continues to serve her community with renewed faith and purpose.
One of nine candidates admitted, Rachel described her admission and commissioning as a celebration of her incredible journey. She said, “It’s a time to celebrate. To reflect on how far I’ve come and all that God has done in my life over the past three years. God has changed me and transformed me, and that’s something to celebrate.”
Rachel’s story reminds us of the profound impact of a leap of faith, the power of transformation, and the joy of walking the path God has called us to follow.
