The Richmond Charities is an almshouse charity with the aim to provide housing to elderly local residents who are in need of an improvement in their living conditions.

The Richmond Charities is seeking to appoint a full-time (5 days/37.5 hours a week) or part-time (4 days/30 hours a week) Chaplain. The Chaplain is required to be an ordained Anglican priest.

The position is with or without accommodation, depending on the needs of the appointed applicant. The accommodation is a 2-bed first floor flat with a ground floor study.

The 4 or 5 days a week includes Sundays and 3 or 4 other days during the week to be worked flexibly. The Richmond Charities’ holiday entitlement for staff is 5 weeks a year (pro rata), rising to 5½ weeks after 5 years’ service.

The stipend is £27,889 (full time) or £22,311 (4 days) plus national insurance and pension contributions (stipend increase for 2023 pending).

The Chaplain will be an employee of The Richmond Charities and will report to the Chief Executive.

We are looking for a Chaplain who is:

· an ordained Anglican priest

· confident in God and the gospel

· imaginative in reaching out to people and making the most of opportunities

· experienced in pastoral care

· clear and inspiring as a communicator, teacher and preacher

· a good listener

· committed to develop the faith of people of all ages

· glad to be working as part of a staff team but well able to be autonomous

· capable of sensitive but decisive leadership to help the community to embrace change where it is needed and desired

· committed to the ethos and aims of The Richmond Charities
