Are you a committed and energetic church musician?  Would you like to work with a church that has a strong musical heritage but whose people are open to new ideas and directions?

We are looking for a Director of Music who will lead our music and choir and be a strong team member who will help us achieve our musical priorities.  These are:

  • To develop music as mission and outreach to all, especially finding ways to engage with children and young people;
  • To enhance musical inclusivity by developing congregational singing alongside choral singing;
  • To extend the range of hymns, songs, and choir repertoire, through introducing more contemporary music.
St Dunstan’s Church, part of the Cheam Team Ministry, sits in the middle of Cheam Village on the edge of Greater London.  Our main act of worship is the Eucharist at 9.30am on Sunday mornings.  Our parish runs a successful Messy Church and has a strong links with our local Church of England primary school.  Music is an important part our life together as a church.  Although our music is centred on traditional hymns and the Anglican choral tradition, we are keen to embrace a much wider range of musical styles.

Salary:  RSCM rates apply and relevant experience will be taken into consideration.  We expect to pay an annual salary of up to £10,000. Wedding and funeral fees are payable in addition.

Closing Date:  applications should be received by 5pm on Monday 30th June 2025.

If you would like an informal conversation about the role before applying, please contact the Rector, the Reverend Dr Nicholas Peacock: cheamrector@cheamparish.org.uk.
