Thursday 9th May was the start of Thy Kingdom Come, a global wave of prayer to bring more people to come to know Jesus Christ. We transformed a classroom into a prayer room and created prayer stations following different themes. Each class had some time during the day to explore the prayer stations.
We prayed for our friends and family. The children used scrabble pieces to build their friends names as they prayed for them.
We prayed for the world. The children wrote their hopes for the world and pegged them onto the hope strings. They then built a Lego candle to help light up the world in prayer.
.
We said prayers of thanks. The children wrote on tags things they are thankful for and hung them onto our thankfulness tree as they thanked God for all the things they have.
We prayed for those less fortunate than ourselves. We thought about how lucky we are and said that to God for all we have. We lit candles as we prayed for others.
We asked for forgiveness as we said sorry for some of the things we have done. The children drew an ‘s’ in the sand as they asked God for forgiveness.
We prayed for nature. We thought about the bees, butterflies and insects. We planted some seed paper to grow some wildflowers for the insects.
We prayed for climate change. We thought about the seas and the corals. The children prayed for them as they took the rubbish out of the sea and then added a gem to brighten up the corals.
We prayed for our school community, thinking about everyone who is in our school community. We made prayer bugs to help us pray for them.
We made a prayer collage. We looked at lots of images and words and thought about what prayer means to us.
We created prayers in art. Using the art postcards from Thy Kingdom Come as inspiration we used oil pastels to create our own prayers in art. We will be putting them together to create a mosaic cross.
We had some time to still and be still, be reflective and pray with the Cheeky Pandas.
Thy Kingdom Come provided the whole school with a space to pray and reflect. It was very much enjoyed by all children and staff too.
