Participants from the 2021/22 course talk about its impact on their lives.

Sandra Blackman – All Saints Carshalton

“I was interested in doing it long before COVID and I didn’t think I was have been able to do it because I am a teacher and do too much travelling. After COVID the option opened to do it on Zoom. I wanted to deepen my faith. I have grown a lot in my faith since doing it and I would recommend it to everyone. I am now praying about the next steps.”

Kelly Virdee-Crofts – St John the Baptist, Wimbledon

Several years ago, I had an epiphany. I heard that hymn “Call me Lord”. I had an epiphany that’s what I need to do. If I hear his Word, do I not keep it to myself? I need to spread the Word. On our pulpit we have the inscription “Blessed is he who hears his Word and keeps it.” That was after my Baptism which Bishop Christopher did.

It was hard work. I went on Tuesdays in person. I had COVID in October and had to do it for three weeks online. I didn’t like it as much as in-person which was wonderful. It is worthwhile. The friendships in Christ too. It has helped me in my understanding when I am reading the Bible, doing intercession and listening to sermons. It has made me think more and deepen my understanding.

Michael Stokes – St James, Bermondsey

This has been a part of my discernment process. It confirmed throughout the year of doing the Bishop’s Certificate until two days ago when I started my journey to becoming a priest. I am studying at Cuddleston. My advice to anyone considering doing the Bishop’s Certificate is don’t hesitate. If you find the assignments too much just be present. If you want to stretch yourself, there is space for that, but not required.
