Churchwardens must be sworn in to office annually and are invited to the Visitation Service to fulfil the legal requirement. The service is also an important opportunity to reflect together on the life of the Church, to pray together, give thanks and to share together in the joy of the Eucharist. The Citation is the legal document giving Churchwardens notice to attend the Visitation service. It is a canonical requirement that Churchwardens are sworn in by 31 August 2025.
