This is the period in the annual church calendar, from 1st September to 4th October, dedicated to God as Creator and Sustainer of all life.
Many churches choose to use this time of year to hold special services and events to give thanks for God’s gift of creation, and to renew their commitment to caring for our one planet home.
Peace with Creation
The theme for the Season of Creation 2025 is ‘Peace with Creation’. In the Biblical text for this year (Isaiah 32:14-18), the prophet Isaiah envisions a world left desolate because of destructive human behaviours and a broken relationship with God. Yet through God’s justice and righteousness comes renewal, peace, and the restoration of the land’s fruitfulness. Hope in a biblical sense does not lead us to be passive but calls us to an active response: to pray, to change, and reconcile with Creator and Creation. To live in peace with Creation is to turn from destructive ways and to walk justly in unity, metanoia (repentance) and solidarity.
