Wychcroft - Diocesan Training Centre

Wychcroft, the Southwark Diocesan Training Centre, is a Victorian house 22 miles south of London, set in the heart of the Surrey countryside near Bletchingley and 5 miles from Redhill station.

The house was first used by the Diocese as the home of the Southwark Ordination Course and is now widely used for training in the Diocese. It serves as a centre for Diocesan conferences and meetings, parish house parties, retreats and study groups.

The use of the house has been gradually extended to include a variety of both religious and secular groups who wish to use the house for appropriate group training activities and who value the peace and quiet of its location. When the house is not being used residentially, it can be used for day conference groups.

The facilities consist of:

  • a large lounge/common room.
  • a small meeting room.
  • a comfortable library, with a good selection of theological books.
  • a large dining room a spacious hall.
  • simple modern audio visual equipment.
  • the Chapel, dedicated to the People of God, is designed to be adaptable for groups to worship as they wish.

The house has 23 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 36 guests. The bedrooms are comfortably furnished and all have washbasins.

The Warden and house team aim to provide a welcoming atmosphere, unobtrusive service and good home cooking. They try to be flexible to the requirements that different groups might have.

The house is open throughout the year. The Warden will provide details of charges, availability and terms of booking, on request from:
