Archdeacon Jonathan Sedgwick is bringing together a group of LGBT+ clergy to provide pastoral support and work together in a number of areas.

Pastoral Resources

The main focus of the work will be to identify and make available pastoral resources for all those seeking to develop and enhance ministry and missional engagement with LGBT+ people. If you are willing to share any resources that you have found helpful or want to publicise any specific activity or initiative, whether regular or one-off, please let one of the group know so that we can include it here.

In keeping with the ‘Pastoral Principles for Living Well Together,’ these resources may come from a range of theological perspectives and their inclusion does not imply any endorsement or approval of the theological conviction which underpins them.

Support

The members of the group will also be available to support clergy colleagues and lay leaders facing particular challenges in ministry as a result of their sexuality or gender identity.   You can contact members of the group via their email address as below.

Exploring Chaplaincy

One of the early tasks for the group will be to consider the practicalities of offering a chaplaincy service more widely to anyone struggling for reasons of sexuality and/or gender identity as a number of dioceses have done.

Supporting Schools

The group will also be working with a group of LGBT+ senior leaders in our schools, which the Director of Education is establishing in the SDBE.
