Creationtide or the ‘Season of Creation’ is the period in the annual church calendar, from 1 September to 4 October, dedicated to God as Creator and Sustainer of all life. It is a time to celebrate the gift of creation and renew our commitment to care for God’s planet, through taking practical action for the climate and nature.
This year’s theme for Creationtide is ‘Peace with Creation’. Find out more about this year’s theme and its theological foundations, and find resources on the Season of Creation webpage.
Look out for our Creationtide prayer films
Please join the Dean of Southwark Cathedral, The Very Revd Dr Mark Oakley, in the first of our prayer films from parish green spaces across our diocese. In these films we’re encouraging people to pause, take a closer note of the place around them and to pray for God’s planet.
We hope to encourage people in our diocese with examples of how churches are making a space for nature and reducing their carbon footprint. With this year’s Creationtide theme focussing on peace, we also hope that these films will become a place of digital respite for those scrolling on social media. Please do take a moment to join us in prayer online as you see them.
We’d love to know how your church is marking Creationtide, and the things that you’re doing to honour God’s creation and make a positive environmental impact in your area. Please share your Creationtide stories, prayers, photos and films with us by messaging [email protected] or tagging us on social media.
