The relationship between the Church and Britain’s empire from the seventeenth to the twentieth century is complex and continues to shape how we think of ourselves as Anglicans in modern Britain today, not least in relation to contemporary racism and the dynamics of the Anglican Communion.

Canon Dan Inman – Precentor at Chichester Cathedral and author of a forthcoming book on the Church of England and empire – will explore how history might help us to think through these legacies. Together, we’ll pose the question: what might forgiveness and reconciliation in relation to historical sins look like for us today?
