Enables us to encourage generosity

St Thomas with St Stephen, Streatham use their CollecTin not just for Sunday giving, and have received over £5,500 in contactless donations.

During the week they run a free, self serve open space called The Hive, in which people can donate using the CollecTin. They also use their contactless machine for their kids and family events, such as Little Bears kids club. St Thomas have had great success by creating new campaigns for different fundraisers, whether that be a leaving gift, family or charity appeal.

Reverend Sue Cooke is enthusiastic about the contactless machine, saying it “enables us to encourage generosity and recognise that some people’s spiritual gift is to give financially, especially in times of crisis.”

Saves treasurer’s time and boosts gift aid

St James’ West Streatham have received over £7000 from their CollecTin. Their treasurer is delighted as digital giving saves on banks’ transaction fees, such as fees for banking cash and cheques. The CollecTin remembers your gift aid details if you use the same card. They use it not only Sunday giving but at their weekly café, The Well.  St James’ CollecTin gains internet not from Wi-Fi, but a Sim card in which the monthly cost of £5 is covered by a pledge.

People are generous – be bold with your minimum donation!

St Paul’s Deptford are in one of the most deprived parts of our Diocese and yet they have received over £8500 from their contactless machine in the last 16 months! They use it for church services, their thanksgiving Sunday and over teas and coffees. St Paul’s found that people tend to give the minimum donation offered, so would encourage you to review it regularly.

Opportunity for occasional offices

Contactless machines are very successful at weddings, funerals and baptisms. Reverend Ian Whitley delights that their contactless machine provides “ease for things like baptisms, where people don’t usually come to church. We get lots of 20 – 30 year olds who don’t carry cash.” St Peter and St Paul, Lingfield and Dormansland receive a large number of donations from people happy to give when attending baptisms, and Ian encourages visitors to give to enable the church to give back to the community.
