St John’s Church is seeking to employ a youth worker to lead and co-ordinate our youth ministry, especially as we rebuild post Covid 19. We are looking to grow the next generation – our heart’s desire is to see young people become Christians and to grow as disciples of Christ. We desire under God to be a church community which is really attractive to young people, and in which they can serve and thrive as Christians. We are looking for a youth minister to move us on with fresh vision and energy, and who has a passion for teaching the Bible in a variety of contexts. The children and youth work at our church had developed significantly since its relaunch in 2017 but has since been affected by Covid 19. As well as Sunday youth groups, the church holds midweek Bible studies for young people. The two key aspects of this exciting role are:

– To oversee and lead the discipleship of young people aged 11-18
– To support parents and carers in their primary role of discipling their children

This is an exciting opportunity as we seek to grow as a church. The successful candidate will work closely with the existing staff team of 5, as well as volunteers. We will provide ongoing training and development. We are a vibrant local church in SE London, welcoming people of all ages and many backgrounds. It is located close to Greenwich Park and many green spaces, with a lively local music and creative scene. Blackheath offers easy access to Kent as well as into central London.

There is a genuine occupational requirement that the post holder is a practising Christian and will be committed to worshipping at St John’s Church, sharing in all aspects of church life.
