Interim Mission Priest for Bermondsey St James & St Anne (United Benefice)

The Bishop of Southwark and the Vicar of the United Benefice of St James and St Anne Bermondsey, seek a new Interim Mission Priest for our two parishes. St James and St Anne are thriving churches with strong evangelical roots, at the heart of a diverse and fast changing urban community. This is a stipendiary post with housing in the St Anne’s vicarage.

St James and St Anne are welcoming and loving congregations who are seeking to respond to the changes in demographics and beliefs in our parishes and to find new ways to love and serve our neighbours as we proclaim the gospel afresh in this generation.

St James is a large and very visible church which attracts many people for life events. It is very well connected to our church school and hosts children and families at assemblies, Sunday services and a newly established ‘Messy Church.’

St Anne’s is a hidden gem with a strong tradition of loving service and prayer. Situated in a square of social housing, it has the potential to become a centre for missional prayer and pastoral care.

We would love to hear from priests with a passion for mission and evangelism who would love to serve with and encourage our congregations in their outreach.

This is a job for a priest who is motivated by the opportunity that being a Missioner alongside an incumbent affords to focus on outreach, and willing to share in all aspects of the leadership of the benefice.
