Introduction

This is a unique opportunity to join our Diocesan staff team as we seek to live out our commitment to generous giving. We are looking for someone who shares this commitment and is passionate about community, creating opportunities and resource. This role aims to enhance parishes’ financial sustainability by expanding fundraising support and securing grants and philanthropic funding for community-focused mission projects. You will collaborate with parishes to develop funding strategies, build relationships with external funders, and promote a culture of generosity and sustainable fundraising practices. This includes supporting various giving mechanisms such as the Parish Giving Scheme, contactless and online giving, legacies, and grants. The position also involves working with Diocesan colleagues to inspire generosity, occasionally participating in services, prayer, and explaining the Christian principles of giving authentically.

This will include:

  • Supporting parishes in developing and implementing fundraising strategies for community outreach, mission, and social action projects.
  • Provide specialist advice on grant applications, including identifying funding sources and assisting with applications.
  • Empower and train volunteers to lead effective fundraising efforts and build external funding partnerships.
  • Promote diverse giving mechanisms, including the Parish Giving Scheme, contactless giving, and online campaigns.
  • Build relationships with local authorities, foundations, and grant-making bodies to enhance funding opportunities.
  • Develop and communicate effective fundraising strategies, sharing best practices and updates via workshops, newsletters, and online resources.
  • Collaborate with Diocesan teams on joint projects, such as environmental initiatives and digital fundraising campaigns.
  • Monitor and evaluate fundraising activities to inform strategy and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide training and resources to support parishes, including organising workshops and participating in events.

About you

We are looking for a Christian seeking a full-time role, but we would be willing to consider a job-share or someone seeking to work for 4 days per week. This role may suit someone looking for a new challenge in the charity sector or expand their grants experience to help our parishes secure vital funding for a wide range of community impact projects. Please indicate in your application and talk to us at the interview about the flexibility you would like in a new role.
