Position: Facilities and Front of House Manager
Working Hours: 3 days/week
Location: St John’s Waterloo and St Andrew’s, Short Street, SE1 8LJ
Salary: £42,000 per annum Pro-Rata (subject to experience and qualifications)
Reporting to: The Reverend Canon Giles Goddard
St John’s Waterloo and St Andrew’s, Short Street, are seeking a dedicated Facilities and Front of House Manager to oversee their iconic church buildings and ensure they are vibrant, sustainable, and welcoming to all.
St John the Evangelist, fondly known as the church by the roundabout at Waterloo, has been a beacon of community and spirituality since 1824. Located in the heart of the South Bank, they serve a diverse community of residents, workers, and visitors. Their Grade II* listed building, recently refurbished by renowned architects Eric Parry, is a hub for arts, performance, and events, and has been recognized as one of London’s most sustainable heritage landmarks with a Gold Eco Church status. St Andrew’s, their sister church in Short Street, is a new community facility that also forms part of your responsibilities.
Under the guidance of the Vicar, St John’s aim to balance community, charitable, and corporate activities, ensuring their spaces benefit everyone. Their mission is to use resources effectively, welcoming all and fostering an environment of equality and sustainability.
Please note that some evening and weekend work may be required, although we do not anticipate this happening very often.
Your Role:
As the Facilities and Front of House Manager, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the historic buildings and supporting a wide range of activities. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing maintenance and facilities, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
- Overseeing contractors, service providers, and a dedicated team including caretakers, receptionists, and front of house staff.
- Supporting sustainability initiatives and managing energy use.
- Coordinating events and hospitality services, ensuring excellent customer service.
- Maintaining security and safety procedures, including fire safety and first aid.

- Experience in facilities management, particularly in historic or listed buildings, is an advantage.
