To provide support in the processing and management of the data we hold. We have a vast amount of data and information on our parishes, congregations, populations, property, finances and leadership. We are looking for a people-person who is organised and has excellent attention to detail with a pragmatic approach to the use of data. You will be someone who can proactively improve the quality and data reporting, evaluating and identifying where system enhancements are required.

You should be supportive of the aims and objectives of the Church of England.

These include:

  • Ensure the data input is accurate, up to date, robust and fit for use in reporting and decision making.
  • Update our databases with data from parishes in particular.
  • Ensuring data entry procedures are complied with and that sufficient checking mechanisms are in place to keep the data accurate and up to date.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of UK Data Protection law requirements and work to ensure that all systems and processes are compliant with this.
  • Collaborating in and suggesting new ways of data collection and data entry that will improve the integrity of our data.

  • Producing maps with MapInfo software as required (training will be provided).
  • Supporting the development of management information and reporting systems to assist managers in delivering their objectives.
  • Supporting departments and senior staff in the production of regular reports.

You will have a data related qualification or relevant work experience. In addition, you should be confident in working with different systems and databases. With the ability to collate the information together in single reports, have excellent attention to detail, particularly when preparing documents and entering data.

The ability to communicate well by phone, in writing and face to face with colleagues is essential. You will be able to confidently work autonomously and be proactive in making suggestions and improvements within a busy, friendly environment. A real joy and passion for the disciplines of data quality is important.

You should be in sympathy with the aims and objectives and traditions of the Church of England.

Southwark is a diverse and vibrant Diocese in so many ways, from the energy of the inner city to the beauty of the Surrey Hills. Serving a growing population of 2.8 million people across south London and east Surrey, we are one of the largest Dioceses in the Church of England and incorporate 358 churches.

The Property Services Department of the Diocese of Southwark is responsible for the management of an extensive portfolio of around 400 properties mostly for clergy housing, and the focus of its work is providing an excellent service to the parishes of the Diocese, as clergy are required to live in the housing provided by the Diocese.
