Bulletin no.6 - Thursday 9 April
3 months, 3 weeks ago
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
As we approach the Triduum here are a few reminders and some information which we hope you will find helpful from the CTG.
- As you will know many of our churches are streaming services live over the Easter weekend. You can find a list of them at https://southwark.anglican.org/churchonline/ and if your church is not able to stream a service, please point your congregation to services that are near to you or to those offered by the Diocese.
On Good Friday there will be the regular Morning Prayer at 9am and Night Prayer at 8pm from the Deanery, which will be streamed on the Cathedral’s Facebook page:https://www.facebook.com/southwarkcathedral along with prayers from the Community of St Francis, Southwark. At noon, the Dean will lead the Stations of the Cross, which will be broadcast across a number of platforms. At 3pm, Bishop Christopher will read the Passion from the chapel in Bishop’s House for the Diocese and then say Prayers before the Cross. This will also be broadcast on a number of platforms.
The Easter Liturgy will be broadcast from the Chapel at Bishop’s House on Easter Day, Sunday 12 April, at 11.00am. Once again, this will be on a number of platforms (check the Diocesan Facebook and YouTube feeds) and parishes are encouraged to join with the Bishop on this occasion. In that service Bishop Christopher will be blessing the Paschal Candle for use in the Cathedral and there will be virtual participation from members of the church family at St John’s, Angell Town, where he has been engaging with the parish (again virtually) during Holy Week.
The Archbishop of Canterbury will be leading the Church of England’s first national digital service for Easter Sunday. The service will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 4 at 8.10am and will be available to watch on the Church of England’s Facebook page and website from 9am.
Please don’t forget that if you are streaming your services and have not yet let us know, please do so by e-mailing: firstname.lastname@example.org
- Our JPIC department has asked us to share with you a link to some helpful information and suggestions concerning caring for those supporting migrants and asylum seekers.
The information which is from Mutual Aid UK can be found at; https://docs.google.com/document/d/11cKMCy08ebN-lJQsP1jvsTcSfwC6YeE8FYrmAZCoZ1w/mobilebasic
- In Bulletin 4 we sent out some guidance from the national church concerning care for our buildings whilst they are closed. They have now updated that material and the revised instructions are attached to this bulletin and can be found at https://southwark.anglican.org/downloads/Caring for church buildings during the pandemic - advice for parishes v.2-1.pdf
The members of the CTG extend their warmest greetings to you and thanks for all that you are doing to ensure that Easter is a joyful occasion.
We hope that your Eastertide will be blessed,
The Coronavirus Task Group
(Bishop Christopher, the Very Revd Andrew Nunn, the Venerable Alastair Cutting, Ruth Martin and the Revd Canon Wendy Robins)
