Bulletin no.2 - Thursday 26 March
8 months, 1 week ago
To Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
This is the second bulletin from the Coronavirus Task Group (CTG) which we hope will provide useful help and information:
- Lighting a candle at 7pm
Many of you lit a candle and said the Lord’s Prayer at 7pm as the Archbishops requested last Sunday evening as part of the Day of Prayer and Action. Some have continued to do this during this week and we would like to encourage you all to consider doing this each day as a sign of hope in this dark time. Bishop Christopher has encouraged everyone to say the Lord’s Prayer daily and suggests either 1 or 7pm.
- Safeguarding update
The Diocesan Safeguarding Team has sent the following email to the Parish Safeguarding Officers today and the information and link is reproduced here for you too.
‘Please find a link to communication issued this week by the National Safeguarding Team in relation to queries concerning COVID-19, including supporting communities and the safer recruitment of volunteers. You will need to scroll down the page to reach the relevant information on Coronavirus: https://www.churchofengland.org/safeguarding/promoting-safer-church-safeguarding
This link will also take you to a very helpful safeguarding factsheet, if you scroll down the page a little, issued by the government on the use of community volunteers during the Covid-19 outbreak that we would like to draw your attention to.
Please feel free to share widely with others in your churches and communities.
In addition, please do keep up to date on the latest government guidelines on keeping safe.
As always, the Safeguarding team are available to provide advice regarding safeguarding matters and referrals.’
The email was sent out by Uzma Osinibi who can be contacted on firstname.lastname@example.org and on 020 7939 9476 (this direct office number is diverted whilst Trinity House is closed.
- Web Resources
We are updating the Diocesan website so that there are more resources for use with children and young people and for prayer and developing our faith and some more stories about what our churches are doing to keep the church alive and help others. More information on this in our next bulletin.
This is a developing thread of materials but do have a look at the Diocesan website to see what is new. www.southwark.anglican.org
As ever, we ask you to take good care of yourselves, to stay at home and to share any concerns or needs with colleagues including your Area Dean, Archdeacon and Bishops.
Please be assured of our prayers at this time.
