Vicar, Lingfield & Dormansland United Benefice
The Benefice comprises two churches – St Peter & St. Paul, Lingfield and St John, Dormansland. St John's has a House for Duty priest dedicated to that church, so the primary role is as Vicar of Lingfield.
Lingfield is a village of 5000 people many of whom commute to London, Croydon or Gatwick. It has an excellent community spirit with many volunteers providing meals on wheels, lunch clubs etc. It is expected that the Vicar will be seen very much as a Vicar of the whole village, not just churchgoers.
We are looking for an enthusiastic priest with a particular interest in developing a ministry to families and young people. The Vicar should provide leadership with the ability to motivate and inspire others. As a village church we would want the Vicar to lead worship suitable for people of different backgrounds.
The church has a good musical tradition with a developing singing group that needs to be encouraged. Lay ministry is also developing as are ecumenical relationships with the other local churches.
The Vicarage is within walking distance of the church and is a modern eco-friendly building.
We are not looking for a Vicar who is inflexible, over serious, or looking for an easy wind down to retirement.
