Big Swap Competition

How to enter

  • Identify as many different things as possible in the course of a day that you could swap for a currently available Fairtrade variety.
  • A point will be given for each different item that could be swapped for a Fairtrade Product.
  • Each type of item will only be counted once.
  • Points will not be given for different brands of the same kind of product.
  • The day can be a fictional day and it is not necessary to have actually made the swaps, but in order to show that it would be possible to make these swaps in the course of a day you should give a times and an explanation for the swaps e.g. 7.00am swapped my breakfast Coffee for a fairtrade Coffee.
  • Prizes will go to the person in each of the age categories below that comes up with the highest number of swaps. 0-11, 11-20, 20+
  • Entrants will be asked “Which product would you most like to see go Fairtrade and why?”and the answer to this will be used in the event a tie breaker is needed.
  • All entries should be on the official entry form available here or from the Groups Support Officer.

The Rules

  • The competition is open to those resident within the Anglican Diocese of Southwark. Entrants under the age of 12 years need to have parent or guardian consent to enter.
  • Each entry should be on the entry form – which will be available here or from the Groups Support Officer very soon.
  • Entries should be sent to: Groups Support Officer, Trinity House, 4 Chapel Court, Borough High Street, London, SE1 1HW
  • The competition closes at midnight on 1st February 2009.
  • No entries can be returned and proof of posting is not proof of receipt. The organisers accept no responsibility for entries lost, damaged or delayed in the post.
  • Entries will be given a mark for all swaps legitimately listed, In the event of a tie a panel of judges will make the final decision based on the tie breaker question.
  • Legitimate swaps refer to correct identification of a product which could currently be replaced with a Fairtrade version. Differing brands of the same type of product (e.g. Cafe Direct and Traidcraft Instant Coffee) will only be counted once
  • The Judges decision is final and no correspondence shall be entered into
  • The prize is as stated. There is no cash alternative and it cannot be sold or transferred.
  • All entries must be the original work of the entrant.
  • By entering, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules and the Diocese of Southwark reserves the right to exclude any entry from the competition at any time and in its absolute discretion if they have reason to believe that an entrant has breached these rules.
  • The Diocese of Southwark reserves the right to cancel this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.
  • If the winner is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made, the Diocese of Southwark reserves the right to either offer the prize to a runner up.
  • These rules are governed by the laws of England and Wales. This competition is administered by the Diocese of Southwark.
