New Lay Canon announced

The Bishop of Southwark, The Rt Revd Christopher Chessun, has announced that Adrian Greenwood, Southwark Diocesan Chair of the House of Laity and Lay Chair of Bermondsey Deanery is to be made a Lay Canon. He will be commissioned and installed in Southwark Cathedral at Choral Evensong at 3pm on Sunday 24 June. The Revd Chris Moody will also be installed as an Honorary Canon and Nicole Burgum as a Lay Canon.
Commenting on the appointment Bishop Christopher said, “Adrian Greenwood is a long standing and enthusiastic servant of the Diocese and I am delighted that he has accepted my invitation to be a Lay Canon. He is especially committed to ensuring that our Deaneries become real centres for mission and that work and ministry of lay people throughout the church is recognised and celebrated”.
The Dean of Southwark, The Very Revd Andrew Nunn, comments “Adrian Greenwood knows the Cathedral well as he has served a period as Bishop Christopher’s nominee on Chapter. The members of Chapter look forward to welcoming him as a member of the Greater Chapter and working with him in his new role”.
Adrian Greenwood said, “I am honoured to be asked to be a Lay Canon of Southwark and look forward to playing my part in the Greater Chapter of Southwark Cathedral and to being an ambassador for the Cathedral in the Diocese”.
