The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan will be in Southwark Cathedral on Saturday 1 October to open a Faith and Community Assembly organised by the Diocese of Southwark. The Mayor will also be giving a keynote address.
The Assembly, which takes place between 10.30am and 12.30pm, will provide community and faith leaders with an opportunity to welcome our rich diversity, affirm the contributions of generations of migrants to our city, and articulate the values each group brings to enhancing the common good.
The Bishop of Southwark, the Rt Revd Christopher Chessun said: “The aim of the Assembly, and my strong hope, is to bring together people of good will to make a public statement of our commitment to neighbour and stranger, society and community, and to celebrate our diversity”.
