The Cathedral is looking for more volunteers.
Can you help?
- An appeal to get involved and create a legacy for the future!
The Cathedral will be open daily from 8 am through to 9 pm (excepting Sundays, when it opens at 8.30 am and will close at 7.30pm) during both the Olympics (27 July – 12 August) and the Paralympics (29 August – 9 September). As well as their regular pattern of daily services they will be having Compline at 8.30 pm each night.
Over recent years there have been an increasing number of worshippers, pilgrims, and visitors. The Cathedral is within the top 20 of London’s ‘free’ attractions. There will be increasing numbers of visitors during the Olympic period and their Visitors’ Officer, David Payne, is looking to recruit additional people to his team of Welcomers so that there is a human presence throughout the day. He is appealing to those in the parishes to come and assist the Mother Church in their Ministry of Welcome to All. He is particularly keen to hear from those who can speak a foreign language, but this is not a pre-requisite.
If you like meeting people then the Cathedral would like to hear from you.
They are offering free training in hospitality and basic health and safety. There may be opportunities to undertake the tourist-board accredited Welcome Host Gold and Welcome International one-day courses. By assisting the Cathedral during this period individuals will be trained and equipped to enhance not only the Cathedral’s response to its visitors but to take their experiences and training back to their own parish churches to improve their ministry, thus creating a legacy for the future. The Cathedral is also looking for longer-term commitments. If you can help for just a day or two, a week, or even longer then get in touch.
There are two identical recruitment sessions:
Friday 27 January, 11am-1pm and Tuesday 31 January, 6.30-8.30pm.
