Training & Resourcing
Courses are open to everyone, especially for those who are exploring new areas of ministry. There are two main paths: a central training programme and the local training programme.
Central Training Programme
All courses can be found in Diocese’s ‘Ministry Matters’ programme and should be booked in advance. They are mostly free to members of the Anglican Diocese of Southwark, or heavily subsidised.
Local Training Programme and Funding
The local training programme is aimed at clusters of churches and deaneries who want to run training tailored to their local needs. Advice and guidance is offered to ensure maximum effectiveness. The CYPM&M local training fund is available to help pay for any trainer costs (T+C’s apply).
Over the last 3 years we have offered over 1000 training places in CYPM&M courses booked by over 600. Evaluations are 97% good or excellent.
Possible courses include - The Key (our basic training course for CYPM&M); children’s ministry; youth ministry; Godly Play; Messy Church; all age worship; sport in CYP ministry; working with hard to reach CYP; challenging behaviour; building volunteer teams; children and young people’s spirituality; social media and new technology; parenting; developing young leaders; starting CYP from a small base; toddler church; admission of children to communion; confirmation; schools work training…
The Key; This is our core, basic course for those engaged or interested in work with CYP. It does not assume experience and yet offers much for lively discussion, reflection and development of practice. It works especially well with groups from churches. Topics include values and priorities, leading sessions; safe practice and resourcing your work.
