Fundraising for mission and ministry with children & young people

The contents of this booklet will help you find ways to fund your work with children and young people in your church and local community. This is not a comprehensive guide but is intended to provide some basic fundraising ideas and steer you in the right direction for further research. All the contact details were correct at the time of publication but may have changed. Please do let us know if you discover any discrepancies so we can keep the information as accurate as possible.

Mission Action Planning (MAP)

At the heart of every Mission Action Plan should be children and young people. If you need help with developing mission with CYPM&M, the book, Mission Action Planning – a Vision Centred Approach (SPCK, 2009) by Chew and Ireland is also useful and copies are available in every parish. There are a team of facilitators that can help with your project work.

Employing children and youth workers

Thinking of employing a children or youth worker? Careful preparation at the start of the process will help ensure you consider all aspects and implications of the role, and help avoid challenges further down the line.

Here are some useful resources to get you started in the process:

Employing Youth and Children's Workers: A Guide for Churches, Paul GodfreyNic Sheppard Church House Publishing 2008

Just Employment: A Guide to Employing Staff in Faith Based Projects (April 2013) produced by Church Urban Fund is a very helpful resource on employment

Good practice guidelines on recruitment and safeguarding procedures are also in A Safe Church and this should be referred to.
