Rector, St Leonard, Streatham
St Leonard's is the ancient parish church, in the heart of Streatham, South London. The parish straddles the A23 with its homes, businesses, shops and cafes but also encompasses the green space of Tooting Bec Common. Our congregation is a vital, eclectic mix from different countries, backgrounds and Christian traditions, who have found their spiritual home at St Leonard's. We have close links with our thriving, expanding church primary school.
We are ready to review our lay-led Mission Action Plan and are looking for a rector who will guide us into the future and keep St Leonard's in the midst of, and serving, the people of Streatham. We have plans to redevelop the church facilities for better use by the wider community.
We want a priest who will challenge our ideas, who is emotionally intelligent and will nurture our spirituality. A facilitative leader who can develop our lay-leadership/ministry skills as well as being open to new ideas and change. The person we choose will have a warm approachable manner and be a good listener, active in making our community truly inclusive; sharing our passion for music and enjoying a party.
You don't have to be super human. If you are open hearted and open armed, welcome challenge and want an involved and lively church, this is an invitation for you to join us.
