Assistant Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser
£38,000 to £40,000 per annum
Your role will be to work with the full time Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser (DSA) in ensuring that the Diocese maintains the highest standards of protection of children and adults at risk of abuse or neglect. Accountable to the Bishop of Southwark through the DSA, you will take the lead in responding to allegations against church officers, and give advice to parish officers who are concerned about the welfare of children or adults. You will also be involved in the delivery of diocesan safeguarding training.
Possessing a social work qualification or equivalent, you will have extensive experience of child and/or adult safeguarding as a senior practitioner and/or manager. You will have knowledge of current legislation relating to safeguarding practice, and demonstrate a good understanding of the structure and operation of statutory and voluntary bodies involved in safeguarding. It would be helpful to have knowledge of the Church of England and its structures. You will need effective assessment, reporting and communication skills, combined with sensitivity and discretion.
